SysTrack SysLock & Weblock
Real-Time Application and Web Access Control
|
|
| |
A lack of IT control on application usage and web site access can result
in the introduction of viruses and lost productivity. In worse cases, it can
result in an unhealthy environment and leave the organization legally liable.
SysLock is designed to restrict application use and lock down
a given environment to only applications that have been authorized by the system
administrator. By locking users down and blocking applications (both applications
that you know about and application that you don't know about) from running, administrators
can eliminate problematic behaviors (like viruses) that result in large numbers
of administrator hours spent taking corrective action.
SysLock can run in two different modes. The first mode is called "These
applications may not run". This mode is utilized by specifying executables
that are prohibited.
The second mode is called "Only these applications may run". This mode is
very restrictive and only allows users to work with executables that have
been authorized by the system administrator. Unlike group policy which
requires you to know the name of the executable you wish to lock down,
with SysLock you do not have to know the name of the executable you wish
to lock down. This is important because most administrators usually do
not know the name of the "virus of the day".
Even if a user renames an executable, SysLock will recognize the renamed
executable and not allow it to run.
Using SysLock, an administrator may specify the applications to be blocked
on the system via an inclusive list (i.e., only specified apps can run) or
an exclusive list (i.e., only specified apps are blocked). Additionally,
SysLock can be configured to notify the user of the blocked application,
to perform other notification events via standard SysTrack notification
mechanisms, or to take defined actions such as the execution of specified
corrective scripts.

SysTrack WebLock®
WebLock works much like SysLock except that it controls website access rather than application usage.
WebLock is designed to restrict website access and lock down
a given environment to only the web sites that have been authorized by the system
administrator. By locking users down and blocking web sites (both sites
that you know about and sites that you don't know about) from being accessed, administrators
can eliminate problematic behaviors (like viruses) that result in large numbers
of administrator hours spent taking corrective action.
WebLock can run in two different modes. The first mode is called "These
web sites may not be accessed". This mode is utilized by specifying URLs
that are prohibited.
The second mode is called "Only these web sites may be accessed". This mode is
very restrictive and only allows users to access web sites that have
been authorized by the system administrator. With WebLock you do not have
to know the name of all of the web sites you wish to prevent access to. This
is important because most administrators cannot explicitly name all of the
sites they wish to prevent access to.
Using WebLock, an administrator may specify the websites to be blocked
on the system via an inclusive list (i.e., only specified sites can be
visited) or an exclusive list (i.e., only specified sites are blocked).
Additionally, WebLock can be configured to redirect the user of the
blocked site, to perform other notification events via standard SysTrack
notification mechanisms, or to take defined actions such as the execution
of specified corrective scripts.
