VMworld 2017: Your Lakeside Software Recap!

Lack of sleep and water no more, we have survived what must have been the warmest VMworld yet! This year the conference was a memorable one for us here at Lakeside Software so we wanted to give you a quick recap of what the week brought…

Some key VMware 2017 announcements

VMware Cloud on AWS

One of the highlights of the general session, VMware gave continuity to their AWS partnership announced last year by launching VMware Cloud on AWS.

AppDefense

A cloud-based and virtual machine-based security offering, AppDefense was announced on Monday, long awaited by the IT Security community. It specifically takes aim at protecting applications running in virtualized environments by monitoring for changes deviating an application from its normal state.

Pivotal Container Service

“Businesses rely on custom applications for competitive advantage. In turn, custom applications rely on container services to accelerate innovation and reduce time to market while increasing scalability and availability” are some of the words from Paul Fazzone, GM of Cloud-Native Apps at VMware (Source). Pivotal, VMware and Google have partnered to bring a container development environment that facilitates managing container projects at scale.

Key Lakeside happenings at VMworld

Winner winner chicken dinner!

Our new Experience Feedback capability within SysTrack took the gold for the “End-User Computing, Mobility and Desktop Virtualization Category.”

Experience Feedback is a new feature that allows IT teams to push out surveys to end users enabling them to couple the quantitative data captured by SysTrack with the qualitative data only end users can provide. Here is what the judges had to say…

“Surveying users for opinions of their experience, then correlating that with empirical performance data gathered by their agent allows IT to fine-tune resource allocation and better understand end users’ needs.” Source

IGEL Tesla Giveaway

One of our key business partners, IGEL celebrated the culmination of a project we have all been waiting for, their Tesla giveaway. An event held on Wednesday at the happening Lights club in Mandalay Bay, it seemed to be all the talk on the expo floor.

As the CEO of IGEL, Jed Ayres prepared to announce the winner, our CEO, Mike Schumacher, shared a few words about our exciting new project with IGEL: workspace analytics for virtual channels.
